Since moving to Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 2011, I have been fortunate to create large-scale public artworks involving thousands of artists, youth, and community members as the Director of Marketing and Community Engagement at the Fitchburg Art Museum (2011-2013), and later as the City of Fitchburg's Director of Economic Development and Chief Marketing Officer (2014-2015). This series of public artworks, educational programs, Placemaking and creative economy initiatives sparked a renaissance of urban revitalization and civic pride in downtown Fitchburg. While working on these grassroots (community, educational, and civic) projects, I once again discovered how the politics of power, personalities, and place can offer an extraordinary opportunity to unify people through the transformational power of art.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all the people who generously contributed to revitalize Fitchburg. It was also an honor to assist the City of Fitchburg to celebrate their 250th Birthday.
