
Site-specific, multi-media and collaborative public art project for which Jerry Beck served as Artistic Director, Writer, Curator, Participating Artist and Performer. The Revolving Museum, 2008/2009
ARTventures was a city-wide public art festival and urban revitalization program believed to be the largest ever carried out in New England involving more than 1,000 artists, youth, and community members who have collaborated on this public art festival. ARTventures was created to celebrate Lowell's extraordinary cultural community and generate new and increased tourism in Lowell. This innovative enterprise used a range of public art, marketing strategies, education programs, and beautification projects to transform three historically significant yet underutilized public space thus sparking much excitement, dialogue, and civic pride throughout the Greater Lowell community.
A sampling of artworks included: A 20’ long public art dress displayed at top a flag pole; 50 mill girl style dresses painted by local artists and youth hanging over the canal.; The Green Game: Save the Earth public art game involving world-renowned green chemistry scientist Dr. John Warner and over several Boy Scout troupes; The Revolutionary Wheel of Change, a 20-foot high kinetic public artwork developed by more than 100 youth and artists; and a public art work created by Stephanie Nichols and children from the Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital.
